Roke Telkom, a Ugandan home-grown public internet service provider for voice and data communications services has announced its partnership with Africa Kwetu for this year’s Africa Economy Fuel Tour, a tour is designed as a marathon entailing normal road travel, compliant with the national traffic regulation.

The determination of the fuel efficiency of each vehicle model and crew is one of the core objectives for this tour amongst others such as tourism, environmental conservation activities like tree planting.

Having focused on Western Uganda for the past two years while covering over 1000km, the tour will be taking the Northern Uganda route for four days starting from Kampala via Luwero then Nakasongola, Masindi, Pakwach, Gulu, and Pader then back to Kampala. This will cover a distance of approximately 1251.88km.

Speaking at the launch of the tour, Amanya Atuhaire the Brand and Marketing manager said, “The tour focuses on promoting domestic tourism, road safety, and environmental protection. Participants will visit the different tourist destinations in Northern Uganda. The participants will also get to see and experience tourist sites such as Murchison falls National Park, Karuma falls, Nyabyeya Forest Reserve, a drive through the Royal mile and Aru falls.”

The different teams will also be engaged in activities like tree planting, site visits for agricultural farms to expound more on their knowledge around these topics.

“The participants will also have access to the Roke internet services at the places of rest during the travel period,” Amanya added.

There will be a car inspection at Shell Bukoto next Wednesday 14th September for the participating members to ensure proper conditions for traveling, and the flag off on the same day at 3:00 pm at The Pearl of Africa Hotel.

The closing ceremony will take place in Gulu City hosted by Dr. Kenneth Omana, the Principal Private Secretary to His Excellency the President of Uganda.
