Kenzo locks horns with Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz in IRAWM Awards

Eddy Kenzo is continuing to fire on all cylinders in musically after receiving a nomination in the Jamaican music awards, in the category of best afro beats entertainer.

Kenzo, one the most decorated artists in the region and the only Ugandan in this category, will be locking horns with Burna Boy and Tems from Nigeria, Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania and Willy Paul from Kenya.

Under the theme Reggae Rise, the 40th Anniversary of IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music Awards) will take place on 7th, May, 2023 in Kingston, Jamaica.

He broke the news of this achievement on his social media platforms on Saturday.

“Thank you at #IRAWMA Jamaica, see you soon.” he posted.

The nominees are in 32 categories and can be got on the event organiser’s website at www.irawma.com.

This marks the third nomination for Kenzo in these awards, the first coming in 2014 in the category of “Best African Song/Entertainer,” the second coming in 2018 for “Best African Entertainer” which he won and then this year’s nomination.

This year, Kenzo and Burnaboy tussled it out in the 65th annual Grammy Awards ( Best Global Music Performance category), only to lose the top prize accolade to South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode
