Confession: It took me 6 years in marriage to have my first child – prominent city lawyer

For a number of reasons, a couple’s first childbirth will always delay.

But, while the delays may occur (for whichever reason/s), naturally (speaking for Africans), friends, relatives and in-laws want to see the result of midnight sweat.

Once it goes past a year or two, they start to murmur.

They even go ahead to anticipate if it is the woman or the man with the ‘problem’

Prominent city lawyer, Claire Amanya Rukundo, a Managing Partner CR. Amanya Advocates says that “Even though I got married pretty early, becoming a mother did not come easy for me.”

“It took me 6 years in marriage to conceive,” tweeted Amanya recently, on Mothers’ Day.

“Those were rough years. Abantu nga babuuza omwami buli lunaku…. “omukyaala asesema”? (Is the wife vomiting?”

She wished “all those still waiting to become mothers, for whatever reason, Happy Mother’s Day” and asked them to “Keep mothering other people’s kids.”

“I pray it happens for u too soon. To those with degrees in asking; when are you giving birth? When are u getting married? When are you having another child…. sharrup!”
