An angry mob in Bukwo district has stoned to death a man accused of killing his wife. The mob casualty has been identified as 43-year-old Joseph Musau Mukung, a resident of Chemuron village in Mutushet Sub County.
The mob accused Mukung him of beating to death his wife identified as Rahab Chebet, a mother of two, on Saturday September 23rd after suspecting her of having an extramarital affair with another man.
Nipha Cheptuket, a neighbor to the family told Uganda Radio Network that the couple had a serious quarrel on the same day early in the morning that created into a grave fight.
According to Cheptuket, she heard the woman crying for help, but unfortunately she couldn’t intervene for the man had locked himself and the wife inside the house. “I took a step to call other neighbors to intervene and upon arrival to Mukung’s house, he had already taken off, leaving his wife lifeless on the house floor” stated, Cheptuket.
Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying, Police have commenced with the investigation to ascertain the main cause of the gruesome acts committed by the deceased suspect and by the angry Mob. Chessang says, information at hand indicates that Mukung, the mob casualty, was way laid by the mob in neighboring Kapsarur Sub County as he was trying to flee to Kenya.
Chesang says, the bodies are at Bukwo hospital Mortuary pending postmortem. He appealed to couples to seek counseling services in case of wrangles. He also cautioned the public against mob justice and instead seek justice through police and local leaders.
