Daniella Atim, wife of music icon Jose Chameleone has dragged the superstar to court, seeking to end their once-celebrated union of nearly two decades.

In explosive divorce filings lodged on March 20, 2025, Daniella accuses the Valu Valu hitmaker of abandoning her for five years, leaving her emotionally battered, unsupported, and “mildly depressed.” She told the Family Division of the High Court in Kampala that her hubby’s absence and lack of affection had torn their marriage beyond repair.

This is not Daniella’s first attempt to escape the turbulent marriage. Back in April 2023, she issued a divorce notice accusing Chameleone of cruelty and infidelity, claiming their relationship had collapsed long ago.

The couple—married on June 7, 2008, at St. James Catholic Parish, Bbiina-Mutungo—share five kids: Abba (19), Alfa (16), Alba (13), Amma (11), and Xara (6). They once lived as a picture-perfect family in Sseguku, Wakiso District, before their love story began to unravel.

In her fresh petition, Daniella is demanding:
• Full custody of the children
• Ownership of the Sseguku family home
• Child maintenance, alimony, and legal fees

But Chameleone has hit back hard!
The singer, one of Uganda’s most celebrated performers, denies desertion. Instead, he claims his grueling music career and constant travels kept him away but insists he never abandoned his family.

Chameleone paints a different picture: in 2018, he says, the couple agreed to relocate to the US “in search of a better life”, where he even purchased a home for Daniella and the kids. According to him, the real troubles began after the move, when Daniella allegedly became “distant, antagonistic, and intolerant.”

He further accuses her of airing their private battles on social media, actions he says pushed him to the brink of psychological breakdowns and hospital admissions.

On the financial front, Chameleone isn’t budging as he opposes alimony, insisting Daniella is gainfully employed in the US. Instead, he’s pushing for joint custody and wants the Sseguku home preserved for the kids whenever they are in Uganda.

In court, the two warring spouses made a dramatic appearance before Acting Principal Judge Jane Okuo Kajuga for mediation. Daniella was flanked by her lawyer Emmanuel Wamimbi, while Chameleone arrived with counsel Roberts Friday Kagoro.

But the mediation ended in deadlock, leaving the fate of this once fairy-tale marriage in the hands of the High Court.

With Daniella standing firm and Chameleone equally defiant, Uganda now watches closely as one of the nation’s most high-profile celebrity unions officially teeters on the edge of collapse.
