Parliament Thursday called for government to consider opening worship places.

Parliament dedicated the new session of the 10th Parliament to God for his blessing and guidance.

President Yoweri Museveni shut the doors of churches and mosques when the first Covid-19 case was confirmed.

The intercessory prayer was convened by the Chaplains of the Muslim, Catholic, and Anglican communities in Parliament.

The Catholic and Anglican chaplains included; Fr. Ponsiano Kawesa and Rev Christine Shimanya who led prayers at the ongoing prayer breakfast at Parliament.

The prayer breakfast dedicating the 5th Session of the 10th Parliament to God is held under the theme: “For when I am weak then I am strong” taken from the second letter of Paul to Corinthians 12: 10.

Speaker @RebeccaKadagaUG  moved government to consider the plea of many to reopen the places of worship.

Kadaga begged: “I am grateful to God that no Ugandan has died due to COVID. The worship we have had today is a testimony that we can have places of worship re-open while observing guidelines on COVID prevention.”

Parliament Imam, Abdulatif Sebaggala hailed Uganda: “The theme when I am weak then I am strong can be described by how Uganda has gone through the Pandemic.”

“How come we have not registered any COVID related death? yes we are weak but are being held by the hand of God.”

Churches, mosques, schools, bars, saloons and arcades are among places President Museveni did not allow to start operations.
