Avance Media, and Africa Youth Awards have announced the 5th annual publication of the 100 Most Influential. Five Ugandans have been named among the 100 most influential young Africans in 2020.

NUP President and presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine, journalists Nancy Kacungira from BBC, Solomon Sserwanja from NBS who also made the list last year and scooped the BBC’s Komla Dumor Award for his work in investigative journalism, Big Talent boss musician Eddy Kenzo and Vanessa Nakatte a Ugandan climate change activist are the five Ugandans who made it to the list of 100.

Nakatte last year made headlines when he championed a campaign against racism in the media.

The awards aim at appreciating youths impacting positively in the lives of young people all over the continent in a diverse range of fields.

With a record of 49 females and 51 males represented from 29 African countries, other notable faces on the list include Davido, Peace Hyde, Bobi Wine, Caster Semenya, and climate change activists Vanessa Nakate & Nisreen Elsaim among others.

The criteria for selection included: Excellence in Leadership & Performance, Personal accomplishments, Commitment to sharing knowledge, Breaking the Status Quo, and being an accomplished young African.
