Kampala businessman Dr. Bulayimu Muwanga Kibirige is dead.

Family sources Friday morning confirmed his demise.

The, 68, year old philanthropist and businessman has been hospitalised in Nairobi, Kenya and US in the recent times.

Bulayimu is known within the business community as one of the first Ugandans to break into Japan, dealing in used cars and spare parts.

He inspired many into joining the trade including Haruna Ssemakula of General Parts Uganda Ltd.

The Kampala businessman who is the chairman and managing director of his business empire, later ventured into hotel, real estate, construction, foreign exchange, oil and petroleum business with Hotel Africana brand not only in Uganda but in East and Central African countries.

He is also an author who published his business story in a book titled, ‘My story of building fortune in Africa’.

Why a book?

In an interview with Observer Newspaper, he explained: “I don’t have much time to mentor people directly. Even if I had the time, how many would I mentor? I want a book through which the next generation of entrepreneurs would be mentor, Let me tell you. It wasn’t easy to make money in the 1970s.”
