Media personality Douglas Lwanga has received his first international award. The famed NBS After5 host, who has been on top of his TV game for the past decade, scooped the Best TV/Radio Host in the African Entertainment Awards, USA.

Douglas Lwanga, 38, won the prestigious Award after beating off competition from top entertainment hosts on the continent.

Upon receiving his gold-plated accolade, he rushed to his social media pages and congratulated himself.

“Hello Fam! Excited to have received my first International career award & accolade having won the award for Best African Entertainment Host in the African Entertainment Awards USA 2020. Thank you for voting & for the love. Forever grateful. Uganda to the world,” overwhelmed with excitement, Lwanga posted.

Lwanga is vying for the same award in the 2021 USA African Entertainment Awards with 28 other media personalities from other African countries.

These  include; Mutale Mwanza (Zambia), Joselyn Dumas (Ghana), Toke Makinwa (Nigeria), Nancy Isime (Nigeria), D’Jaro Arungu (Tanzania), Adam Mchomvu (Kenya), Eric Omondi (Kenya), and Lil Ommy (Tanzania), among others.

The awards are slated to take place in New Jersey in December and will be hosted by Eric Omondi and Nancy Isime.

Douglas Lwanga’s TV journey…

In 2008, Lwanga Douglas joined Record Television Uganda as a TV Producer.

He was able to excel in Television and in 2010 he decided to challenge himself and he started a daily music TV show called KATOGO on Record Television, that later became a household name.

Then in 2013, Lwanga signed a deal with NTV to host a daily Music Show called The BEAT and indeed it turned out to be a massive success. He hosted a wide range of both local and international artists on the show.

The international names he hosted on his show included Davido, Alaine, Konshens, Wiz Kid, Busy Signal, D’banj, Diamond Platnumz, Tiwa Savage, MafikiZolo, Sauti Sol, Yemi Alade among others.

From NTV he made a big-money-move to NBS TV in 2018 where he currently hosts NBS After5 with MC Kats and Sheilah Gashumba.
