Ex-Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President, Col (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye has Friday paid a visit to the sick Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Betty B. Nambooze.

According to Nambooze, Besigye “traveled for two and half hours on train to come and check on me in Newyork”

It touched my heart profoundly, Nambooze said. “The fact that he decided to come and see first hand how I’m doing health wise….suprised me greatly.”

Besigye confirms the visit.

“I’ve visited Hon Betty Nambooze in New York and was comforted to find her looking more fit & in high spirit than I’d seen her for quite some time! We continue to pray for a quick and full recovery.”

While Besigye does not reveal what it took him to travel that long and the direction he came from, over 2 hours by train is an equivalent of Kampala to Gulu or Lira by bus.

Nambooze suffered grave injuries to her back in 2017 during a scuffle that emerged in the house while parliament debated the controversial constitutional amendment bill that aimed at lifting the presidential age limit. She was back then taken to India where she underwent surgery.

Medics say Nambooze is suffering from a condition called Peripheral neuropathy.

This is a condition which is a result of damage to the nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord. According to Mayoclinic.org, this condition often causes weakness, numbness and pain usually in the hands and feet. It can also affect other areas and body functions including digestion, urination and circulation.

To date, she remains in the United States of America where she is undergoing treatment.
