Killed it or not, Eddie Kenzo has been in the news for weeks or so, thanks to his effort in redoing Philly Lutaaya’s Born In Africa.

While the debate rages on, on who is greater between Kenzo and Lutaaya (RIP), dancehall ace  Vyper Ranking says he is yet to listen to the said song.

Ranking was appearing Galaxy FM’s Big Bang Friday when he made the revelation.

Out of 100, Evening Rush shot host, Nimrod, tasked Ranking to rate Kenzo’s song.

However, he declined, on grounds that he was yet to listen to the song, and asked that the song is played first. While the song was played (on his request), Ranking still remained reluctant to rate the song.

That said, however, the song has since attracted thousands of views of Kenzo’s YouTube channel. It is not clear whether the huge number of views is related to how good the song is or the hullabaloo that accompanied it.

That said, experts argue that when a musician covers a tune by another artist, that musician is creating a unique performance of that song.

“Kenzo is a great artist. For a boy from nothing to international awards, he has done well for himself and his country. Yes, there may be people who sang better than him in the past. There actually may be people who sing better than him currently. But right now, let’s go with the the achievement of international recognition, Eddy Kenzo is the greatest artist of our time,” part of an opinion penned by media personality Posha Aloyo reads.
