AFCON 2019 QUALIFIER

Lesotho 0-2 Uganda

It is a joy to see Farouk Miya back to his very best!

Miya whose goal against Comoros secured Uganda the first qualification to the Afcon finals in Gabon, has since then suffered dip in form.

Well, as they say form is temporary but class is permanent, Miya is special. His two goals in Maseru should be enough to guarantee Cranes the spot in Cameroon.

The Belgium based attacker has registered three goals in two games for Sebastian Desabre’s rampant Uganda Cranes.

The home team will not forget the name Miya. He was unstoppable and hungry on the night.

In as early as the 11th minute, the former Vipers SC man had written his name on the score-sheet with a blistering shot from outside the goalkeeper’s box after fine interchange with Allan Katerega.

The star midfielder who many were calling to be dropped from the team, stepped in when Emma Okwi was fouled on the left side of the pitch.

From a tight angle, Miya went for the impossible, curling the ball with heavy touch on it and beyond the opposition goalie whose attempt to block it failed miserably.

The Cranes bench should take the credit for the midfielder’s return to form. They believed in him and just couldn’t afford to keep him away from the team.

Having had several loan spells after failing to nail first team football with Standard Liere in Belgium, Miya’s performances for the Cranes told the story of frustration.

The Cranes star put in a splendid show in Kampala. His drive and energy was encouraging. He was amazing alongside Moses Waiswa, Okwi and Idirisa Torres Lubega.

And the confidence with which he sent the goalkeeper going the wrong way, mirrored a man hungry for a second chance. And he took it with two hands.
