A four-year-old girl is hospitalized at Bombo General Military Hospital after she was defiled and dumped in a pit latrine.

The victim is a middle-class pupil at J&J Nursery and Primary at Sambwe village in Nyimbwa sub-county, Luweero district.

Sylvia Nabirye the mother of the victim explains that her child was discovered in a pit latrine at Orthodox Primary School after she went missing for three days.

Nabirye says that her child went missing on Saturday after she had left her to play with other children as she attended an association savings meeting.

Nabirye added that they reported a case of a missing child at Ndejje Police post.

On Tuesday pupils of Orthodox Primary School heard cries inside the toilet and alerted the local leaders

Nabirye explains that the child was bleeding in the private parts and was later transferred to Bombo General Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Bombo General Military Hospital is yet to release a report on the medical condition of the child and administrators declined to be interviewed.

However, the Luweero District Resident Commissioner Phoebe Namulindwa says that a medical examination has revealed that the child’s hymen was ruptured following a forceful sexual act.

Namulindwa says that it’s believed that the suspects after defiling the minor feared for arrest and dumped the child in the toilet.

The Acting Luweero District Police Rebecca Ayeta says that two people have been arrested.  They include unidentified person who was seen riding the child on a motorcycle on the day she went missing.

Defilement cases are on increase and the 2018 Annual crime report put Luweero district among highest cases across the country. According to the report, 192 defilement cases were recorded in 2018 in Luweero district.

Many children suffer tract infections, urinary incontinence and trauma among other illness after they have been defiled.
