OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has pleaded with Manchester United chief Ed Woodward to “speed up” the signing of Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

The Portugal midfielder, 24, has been a long-term target for the Red Devils following his stunning season for club and country.

Fernandes scored 32 goals and grabbed 18 assists for Sporting in the last campaign, becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after talents.

He also starred for Portugal as they were cruising towards Nations League glory earlier in June.

And according to Record, United are still “ahead of their rivals” in the race for the midfielder, despite interest from Tottenham.

But Solskjaer has urged Red Devils executive vice-chairman Woodward to “speed up” talks with Fernandes’ representatives.

His agent Miguel Pinho was in England last week, but was told that Sporting’s £62million valuation of the player is too much.
