Parents to students stranded in China the epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak want the government to put action to its financial pledge following complaints of starvation from them.
Currently, a total of 105 known students are stranded in the Wuhan province of China a country where 2,747 deaths and 78,514 infections have been recorded.
Addressing journalists at Rock Gardens at Speke Hotel on Thursday, representatives to the students trapped in China have criticized the government for being sluggish in responding to the student’s plight.
The parents say they often receive lamentable communication from their children saying life has become very difficult in Wuhan, with students left in the hands of the universities, making it even harder to get basic needs without cash.
One of the grieving parents Dr. Cecilia Atim, says from the time Government pledged to aid the students with US$ 60,000 approximately shillings 230 million they haven’t noticed any progress or communication in that regard.
Atim notes that when they met with Chinese embassy officials in Uganda recently they were assured that their children were in safe hands which contradicts students the mind-blowing conditions they are living in.
Coronavirus now Covid-19 has since December 2019 spread like a burning bush fire to over 50 countries including Africa, USA, Europe, and the Middle East with over 82.588 deaths and 2814 dead.
