NBS has always wanted to prove a point to its competitors that indeed they run TV business. The Kamwokya based station tries harder to bring something new in a bid to entertain their viewers especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

However, they went overboard yesterday according to a section of fans on social media.

SNL team led by legendary TV presenter, Douglas Lwanga wore black T-shirts with writings “All Lives Matter” on them. For starters, the ‘All Lives Matter’ slogan is aimed at watering down the ‘Black Lives Matter’ slogan of Black People. The slogan diminishes the focus on discrimination and violence against black people by white supremacists.

SNL team’s actions rubbed a section of fans a wrong way especially in this period when the protests are going on under the slogan of “Black Lives Matter” after the brutal killing of Big George Floyd in Minneapolis, US by cops. According to fans, NBS Team stooped so low when they turned up dressed in T-shirts with the offensive slogan.

Blogger Ritah Kaggwa took to her page and partly posted;

“Meanwhile while the world condemns the use of “All Lives Matter” slogan when protests are going on under the slogan of “Black Lives Matter” NBS Television presenters seemed to not have understood this and turned up to their music battle dressed in shirts with this offensive slogan.”

Now the management of the station has bowed down to pressure, acknowledged their grave mistake and apologized to the public for scoring themselves an own goal.

“Tonight on #NBSSNL, we rubbed many of our viewers, local and international, the wrong way when our team moved to don t-shirts labelled “All Lives Matter.” This was Not our intention, and the outcome is far from what is expected of us. We shall do better”, a Tweet on their account reads.
