Security has been tightened in various parts of Kampala as the president Yoweri Museveni prepares to be sworn in tomorrow.

Uganda Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga says police is working with other security organs including Ldu’s Soldiers,SFC’s,Prisons services among others to ensure security.

Enanga says the security in place is not meant to scare off the public but to counter any illegally planned disruptions like strikes and petrol bombs among others.

Police has also indicated that there will be a bit of disruption on some major roads as a result of the occasion.some roads have been diverted while others sealed off.

Norman Musinga the Kampala metropolitan traffic commander says -Entebbe –Kampala road will have a bit of disruption while Kampala –Jinja highway will not be restricted.

People trying to access the Kololo airstrip will either be restricted or have access to stickers inorder to get through.

Musinga has asked the public to cooperate.

Musinga has warned boda boda operators from passing or using roads that have been sealed off or restricted .

The government has confirmed a number of heads-of-state at the inauguration of President Museveni on May 12.

Presidential spokesperson Lindah Nabusayi says the heads of state and delegations arriving on Tuesday include President of Somalia Mohamed Farmajo, President of Guinea, Alpha Condé and Prime Minister of Gabon, Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda.

Mozambique President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Burundian leader, Évariste Ndayishimiye, Ghana’s Nana Akufo-Addo and South Sudan president Gen Salva Kiir have confirmed their presence.

Mnangagwa took part in liberation movements that fought colonialism in Zimbabwe. It was during that time that Mnangagwa got in touch with President Museveni.

Before taking power in 2020, Ndayishimiye had served as a senior military and ruling party official. He worked closely with Museveni during peace talks that ended the civil wars in Burundi.

On the other hand, Salva Kiir has worked with Museveni since the late 1980s in wars against Sudan-Khartoum.

In 2013, Museveni sent UPDF to protect the government of Kiir which had come under attack by rebels loyal to Dr Riek Machar.
