Simon Ssenyonga is at crossroads with scientists advising President Yoweri Museveni on closure of Churches over Covid-19.

The city lawyer has confirmed that he is challenging the continued closure of churches due to the pandemic.

Simon Ssenyonga’s outbursts arise from President Museveni’s directives that largely allowed other sections of the country open up but deeming places of worship and bars out of peoples’ reach.

The President in his address said that there will be a review on places of worship after 60 days. Simon Ssenyonga however, thinks the position was arrived at out of ignorance of scientists.

Appearing on NTV Monday morning, the city lawyer blasted: “Scientists who pretend to be Christians are ill advising the President.”

Simon Ssenyonga who said he taking the matter to courts of law, queried: “Can someone give me scientific evidence that a virus contracted while in church spreads faster than a virus contracted while in an arcade?”

He argued: “Legal ignorance is not a justification for Government officials to come and make massive blunders on national television.”

Simon Ssenyonga stated: “Government belief alone doesn’t justify the closing of places of worship.”

He warned: “At the don of every new era, there are people who rise and others who fall. Don’t sit around with this confidence, some members of this regime want to come at the church but I can assure you, they will go down with it.”

Senyonga hit out: “COVID-19 cash is being stolen and you think we who are advocating for the opening of churches are the jokers, cut us some slack.”
