Argumentative Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has taken to his Twitter account to brand the National Unity Platform (NUP)lairs for claiming that he picked the wrong nomination forms for the position of NUP president.

Mwenda claims he was welcomed by youthful officials at the Kamwokya based headquarters who handed him the right forms for the presidency and not of the local council as alleged by the NUP spokesperson.

In a rather detailed tweet, Mwenda posts a picture of forms he picked and filled and hen goes on to write;

“These are the forms I picked and are now filling for presidential candidate on NUP ticket! Yet spokesperson, Joel Senyonyi, had the audacity to claim I picked forms for youths and local councils. Can he show how this form is not for president but for local councils?”

“Leaders of a party that claims to fight fraud and manipulation should lead by example & act with integrity. I informed the young NUP officials I wanted presidential candidate forms. They were well organized and gave me the right forms! Why then is NUP changing goal posts!?” he further explained.

On Tuesday this week, the NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi while announcing the party’s official dates for picking nomination papers indicated that Mwenda picked wrong nomination forms for the position of NUP president.

Ssenyonyi went on to clarify that between August 14th and 21st is when those interested in running for Presidency on the party ticket can proceed to their offices for the forms.

He further went on to call on Mwenda to return and pick the forms if he is interested in competing with the party president Bobi wine in the primaries since the delegates conference in July 2019 elected Bobi as a leader of NUP and not flag bearer.

“Andrew Mwenda can come and pick forms if he wants but those that he took are not for party presidential flag-bearer, instead they are for MPs, youth leaders and councillors,” Ssenyonyi said.
