The police have released a statement on the video doing that went viral involving a police officer firing bullets at a car while wrestling with civilians.

The incident happened at Buloba Traffic Checkpoint along Kampala- Mityana road on Sunday evening at 5 pm.

The Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga, says their traffic officers intercepted a numberless Toyota Mark X after that had failed to stop at Bujjuko checkpoint.

Enanga says the Toyota Mark X was involved in a minor accident with a commuter taxi number UBA 681T before reaching the checkpoint.

Police say the officers who witnessed the accident alerted their colleagues at Buloba who then flagged him to stop ordering him to park aside.

Shortly after he stopped, a group of Subaru racers who were with him arrived at the checkpoint and caused a lot of fracas in a bid to rescue their colleague in the Mark X driver.

Enanga says one of the Subaru drivers numbers UBD 026 jumped out of his vehicle and started inciting others in an attempted to grab a gun from a one PC Tonny Ogwang who was guarding the traffic enforcement team.

“It’s fortunate that no death was registered but one of our officers identified as Samuel Mutingirehe was injured by fragments in the stomach,” said Enanga

The Toyota Mark X driver managed to make-off but the Subaru Forester is parked at police.
