As days draw closer to the 1st March 2021, when schools reopen, the ministry of Education has released a calendar showing exact dates when noncandidate classes resume schooling.

Alex Kakooza the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education gives information in a letter released on 9th Feb 2021 to all stakeholders including MP’s , National curriculum Dev’t center, District Education Officers-DEO, University chancellors, Resident District commissioners -RDC’s among others.

According to the calendar, the dates for reopening of pre-candidate classes like p.6,s.3, and s.5, universities, teacher’s colleges, and tertiary institutions remain 1st March 2021 as earlier communicated but with stringent measures.

Universities and other tertiary institutions will open in a phased manner and will have sessions in shifts in a prioritized form.

Other classes like p.4 and p.5 report on 6th April just as Primary Leaving Examinations-PLE ends, and will study for 8 weeks until June 4th when they break off.

Meanwhile s.1 students will report on the 12th April 2021 for 14 weeks till July 3rd, 2021.

p.1 ,p.2, and p.3 resume school  on the 7th June shortly after p.4 and p.5 have gone on recess and their 8-week study program closes on July 24th, 2021

s.2 students start classes on the 31st of May and proceed till July 24th, 2021 which is 8 weeks of learning.

Kakoosa also notes that the 2020 academic year for Primary , secondary, and post-primary ends in July 2021.

He also echoes that promotion to the will be based on the attendance of class and assessment of classwork and assignments.
