Fresher details have emerged regarding more beneficiaries of the Ugx 100.000 /=covid 19 relief cash package in Gulu City.

This follows an order to review all cash beneficiaries by the Local Government Public Accounts Committees after several complaints from the public.

Initial revelations showed that Geoffrey Oloya, who was thought to be a Boda Boda rider in Gulu and acknowledged receiving his cash package via his mobile phone on television was an assistant in the mayor’s office.

Prime Minister-PM Robinah Nabbanja was at the office of the prime minister-OPM to launch the distribution exercise where she called him and boldly announced the 1st beneficiary as a Boda Boda rider.

This revelation got the committee members digging deeper into how Oloya and others used their positions to falsely get the government money.

Now, new details from the PAC committee seen by the Nile post indicate that other local government officials equally used sneaky means to benefit from relief cash meant for the vulnerable.

It has been realized the Gulu City council clerk, former Chairman LCIII for Layibi Division, and a supervisor in Centenary Bank Gulu all received the cash.

Alfred Oluba the Chairman LCIII Layibi Division, posed as a taxi driver, the clerk registered as a musician while Centenary Bank supervisor registered as a Boda rider.

Meanwhile, to access the teacher’s grant money, over 20 government officials and members of staff at the City headquarters, and their family members greedily registered.

PAC committee has now resolved that the members of the Gulu City administration who defrauded the system and should be reprimanded.
