Questions must be asked about FUFA verdict on ref on Vipers SC, Police FC outcome, one month is utter joke!

For a senior police officer so calm in Afande Asan Kasingye to explode and kick everything around him and throw tantrums at people, you know something beyond the ordinary prevailed at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Afande Kasingye’s outbursts were vivid given the thirst his side have showed this season for glory. He has been at their games and knows what it means to the team when a decision so dear did go against them and cost them three points.

Vipers SC who were trailing the forces 2-1 tied the game and went on to claim all three points playing one man down. You can imagine the anger in Afande Kasingye’s throat at the final whistle!

Why must Vipers SC look like they are being handed a free gift at the cost of a careless referee? Are FUFA and Uganda Premier League trying to justify to the football fraternity that the Kitende based side have had it their way in the past with the help of the men in black? We know what happened in the past with SC Villa and would not want anything like that to happen in this era where men and women have faith in the organisation of the league and would want a fair ground for competition.

With the ugly scenarios at St Mary’s where Police goalie Patrick Ochan, who, clearly handled the ball within his goal area, handed a red card and then the verdict entirely going heavily on the side of police, serious questions must be asked by the stake holders.

For a referee who got it utterly wrong from the FUFA Verdict findings to walk away with one month penalty is a mockery to the beautiful game. The football body ought to be reminded that the referees were the major influence to a game that went to the dogs, sending away fans. We don’t want to go there. The game has made some huge strides under this administration and they would not want to be the same group that want to send it back to the dark days.

The Police Football Club supremo Afande Kasingye with anger burning in his chest took to his Twitter handle to end his relationship with the league and vowed never to return to watch any of the games.

So the question to FUFA and those who run the league remains, what is the cost of the verdict to a man who has sought for divorce and handed it to himself before his partner can sign on it? Yes, in a message to those vying to run clubs, it would be the right call. This is a man who has had hope in his side coached by Abdallah Mubiru and seen a great deal of effort from everybody in his camp. To kill this spirit at an early stage is absolute let down.
