As day follows night, what may have started as a joke could take a very serious path.
Weeks ago, photos of singer Douglas Mayanja alias Weasel Manizo’s Baby Mama, Sandra Teta, emerged on social media. Her face showed marks of blood (swollen) and portrayed signs of beating.
As always, social media in-laws weighed in, and called Weasel all sorts of names.
However, it remained a mystery about whether or not Sandra had actually filed a formal complaint.
In this article, however, we can authoritatively confirm that the case is before the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in Kibuli.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed receiving the complaint.
“The case is being handled at the Directorate of CID. The investigations are progressing. We have had a statement of the victim (the alleged victim) because you remember she didn’t come out by herself to come and register a complaint and there has been a lot of social media hype and different versions on social media and we want to assure members that that matter is being handled by the CID,” Enanga said.
We are, however, not privy to the details in Sandra’s statement.

But according to Enanga, “We shall be getting a formal report on that investigation.”
“The director wouldn’t wish to come up with a report without first consolidating the facts. We want the facts to come out clearly and then eventually we can release the statement to the public. We are also trolling social media. There is where we again saw the victim in a happy moment but the fact remains that if an offence was committed, it has to be investigated and culprits punished,” Enanga said.
“There is no problem whether it was reported by a friend or third party but we registered a complaint,” he noted.
Weasel’s crime
The Police put Weasel’s kind of crime under assault.
The Penal Code Act Section 236 (Assaults causing actual bodily harm) stipulates that “Any person who commits an assault occasioning actual bodily harm commits a misdemeanour and is liable to imprisonment for five years.”
