Police in the oil city of Hoima city have caged two suspects for stealing from various guest houses in the area.

The suspects are Muhindo Nyambo 30, and David Walusimbi 30, both residents of Kampala city.

Police busted the duo in a room at Double Dream Guest House in Kinubi cell, Hoima East division of Hoima city with over 1000 master keys and house break-in implements like hammers and spanners.

The suspects are accused of raiding several guest houses in the city, targeting clients at guest houses and stealing their valuables like phones, money and laptops among others.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says the suspects operate by booking accommodation at various guest houses in the city and later copy the keys to their respective rooms which are later used at the same guest houses to easily open the doors.

Hakiza says police received intelligence led information and swung into action and arrested the suspects.

He says last week, the suspects raided Double Dream guest house disguised as clients and later robbed an HP laptop from a client that had booked accommodation at the guest house and later varnished. They later sold the laptop in Kampala.

Hakiza says upon interrogations while at Hoima city central police station, the suspects confessed to have stolen the laptop and sold it in Kampala. They further confessed to have been terrorizing several clients in various guest houses in the city.

Hakiza has appealed to guest house owners to be extra careful with some clients they get at their premises saying some are thugs.

Hakiza says Police have also increased the presence and visibility of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel to fight crime in the area.
