Hounding Rains Hinder PLE

Primary Leaving Examinations-PLE started on a bad note for many candidates this morning after long hours of pounding rains disrupted the process in different parts of the country.

The hounding rains started in the wee hours of the morning in most parts of the country.

By 8 am, most examination classrooms were still empty with limited or no candidates and no sign of examination materials.

8:30 am is the time when all candidates are expected to be at school , being checked to enter the examination halls.

However, by this time, candidates were still struggling to make their way through the flooded roads of Kampala to examination centers for their first paper.

Also absent was Co-ordinators and headteachers who were nowhere near the storage center to receive their materials.

During national examination days, pupils are encouraged to be at school as early as 7:30 a.m. or even earlier.

The Kampala Area Supervisor Eve Konde says the rains generally disorganized the distribution of the exam materials.

We normally sit for these exams during the rainy season so people should not be very shocked about what is happening. Some schools might be late but it should not be a very big issue,” she said.

According to UNEB examination guidelines, candidates unless those registered as sick suffering from asthma are not allowed to sit for exams while wearing sweaters. This is done to avoid the smuggling of unwanted material.

The 2020 PLE exams begun today Tuesday 30th March 2021 after briefing on Friday last week.

Candidates Mathematics as their 1st paper which should be followed by social studies-SST and religious education in the afternoon.

A total of 749,811 candidates are registered for the PLE to be conducted from 14,300 centers.
