Tough test for Liverpool

The game will be played at the American Express Community Stadium and the hosts begin the weekend in 8th place on 27 points while the visitors are in 6th place on 28 points.

Brighton come into the game on the back of a memorable 5-1 victory at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last weekend. Having opened the scoring in only the 8th minute, the Championship club equalised 5 minutes later.

However, The Seagulls took the lead for the second time in the 29th minute and made no mistake in the second half, scoring three more goals without reply.

Trends show Brighton have won three of their last four matches, two of which have come in the Premier League. The wins in the Premier League have both been away and Brighton have beat Southampton and Everton on the road.

Brighton have won four of their six most recent fixtures in the Premier League but only one of those victories has come at home.

Home form in the league shows Brighton have won just one of their last five games. There have been defeats to Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Arsenal.

Liverpool make the trip south to the American Express Community Stadium having previously been held to a 2-2 draw at home in the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tough test for Liverpool

Wolves opened the scoring in the 26th minute but Liverpool took the lead thanks to goals either side of half time. However, Liverpool could not hold on to their lead and Wolves equalised in the 66th minute to force a replay.

That result means Liverpool have won two of their last five fixtures in all competitions. They beat Aston Villa away and Leicester City at home in the Premier League but there have been defeats in the League Cup to Manchester City and in the Premier League at Brentford.
