Muhammed Segirinya, the Kawempe North MP, dragged to court for contesting for MP with fake academic qualifications was again absent from court today.

Ssegirinya ‘s victory was challenged by Kidandala when he alleged that Ssegirinya didn’t have the requisite academic qualifications to contest for MP.

High Court convened on Thursday for a fact-finding mission on whether Ssegirinya was served papers as per the laws governing Election petitions.

This followed claims by the respondent(Ssegirinya) that he was never served and is unaware that he has an election petition to deal with.

To that effect, Ssegirinya has refused to appear in court. despite the petitioner insisting he was served while at Kitalya prison on remand.

The case has however been adjourned until tomorrow, Friday at 2 pm by the presiding judge Henrietta Wolayo.

Today in court, Kindadala’s lawyers led by Kenneth Paul Kakande asked judge Wolayo to grant them a warrant to prove Ssegirinya was served.

Kakande asked the court for an order to go to Kitalya to inspect the books and cameras as proof that their advocate went to Kitalya as well as phone reports.

Kakande said; “We ask the court to grant us permission to order the Prisons Authority at Kitalya to provide the visitors book or somebody to go there and examine the same books to prove that our counsel was there to serve the respondent (Ssegirinya),”.

The presiding Judge Wolayo gave them today by 2 pm to see whether they can find a solution.

The trial judge promised that as soon as those applications are disposed of, the court will commence with a hearing of the Petition.
