After several days of searching for Julius Osuta, a first year student at Kyambogo University, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, police has found him.

He was found at Arua Park in Kampala on Thursday by police cops and handed over to his parents.

Osuta went missing on 7th April 2022, after losing school fees worth UGX 620, 000 , he had just recieved from his father in gambling at a sports betting center.

A depressed Osuta reportedly tried to recover the money he had lost in betting under the pretext he misplaced the stake,he was arrested and brought to police in Kyambogo over theft. He was later released.

Osuta panicked and fled into hiding prompting students where he resides in a rental at  Banda to report the matter to the police.

Gloria Ekizi, Osuta said Osuta escaped out of fear that his family that hails from Zombo would be very furious with his actions.

Betting among learners has become a common habit with majority loosing their school fees in the process.

 In Febuary 2020, a student at Moyo technical institute in Moyo district fell unconscious after losing school fees worth UGX560, 000 in gambling.

The victim (names withheld), was a first year student of Moyo technical institute and a resident of Adjumani district. He had just reported to school when he was prompted to bet his tuition.
