Police in Buhweju has arrested a heartless man accused of murdering his ex -lover moments after reuniting with her.
The suspect Bataho Cosma 44, a resident of Buhweju , invited his ex, identified as Mayanja Joseline, to spend a night with him at his residence but later butchered her using a sharp machete.
Locals allege that the couple had recently separated following deep rooted arguments and incidents of domestic violence. Mayanja had reportedly accused her husband of having side hens and turning ruthless every time she confronted him.
Mayanja is said to have reported the matter to local council authorities for intervention but it hit a deadlock,prompting her to abandon the rocky union.
Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson explains that on that fateful day, Mayanja returned to the village she had left months ago to deposit money to a local Sacco she subscribes to and met her ex in the process. He says the couple immediately hit it off and Bataho invited her to spend a night at his house.
Enanga says the couple got into another deep heated fight that turned violent, Bataho grabbed a sharp machete he used to butcher his ex severally , killing her on the spot.
According to the police spokesperson, Bataho was arrested at the scene of crime where his ex lay dead on the floor in a pool of blood. He says police is currently holding him at Buhweju Central Police Station on murder charges, pending his appearance in court.
