When Selecta Jeff started working on “Party O’clock”, he wanted to create a party anthem that would capture the energy and vibrance of Ugandan music, but add something new that could appeal to audiences abroad. As any good DJ, Selecta knows his audiences very well and thus is able to give them exactly what they want. Party O’clock is a great example of the new wave of UG music that speaks to local fans and yet gets the party going anywhere else too!

Aside from the infectious beat (produced by BIT), Party O’clock sets itself apart from many other songs out there with its call-and-response style chorus and a sexy back-and-forth between Tarley and Sheebah. Tarley, who wrote most of the lyrics and melody for the song, is a lyrical and vocal genius. He draws on influences across the Afrobeats and Hip-Hop landscape, finding a unique blend of modern vocal styles. In this way, he is appealing to a younger Ugandan audience as well as listeners abroad.

Although Tarley is a relatively new artist, he has quickly caught the attention of big names from Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania, all of whom are anticipating collars with him.
Selecta Jeff, with his keen ability to recognize talent, knew that Tarley would be a key ingredient to making this next-gen party anthem. Let’s face it, Mr. Rewind knows how to pull the right team together to make a hit song. So after working with BIT and Tarley on the blueprint, Selecta called up Sheebah and John Blaq to complete the team. The outcome is a massive party vibe!
