Bobi Wine spent sleepless nights contemplating on who to back in the Arua Municipality election to replace slain Ibrahim Abiriga but finally decided to pack his bags and trek over 500Km to the West Nile city.

Bobi known by real name Robert Kyagulanyi is the MP for Kyadondo East and has been in the campaign trail for most of the by-elections in the country, most recent of them being the Bugiri Municipality where his candidate Asuman Basalirwa emerged victorious.

The singer cum politician is in Arua Municipality to put his weight on former Terego County MP Kasiano Wadri, indpendent leaning FDC candidate who has also attracted several heavy weights including Gen. Mugisha Muntu, Basalirwa and Abed Bwanika among others.

Bobi in his campaign message to the residents who thronged Arua city, explained why he settled for Wadri, who has served in Parliament for 15 years.

Bobi Wine: While we have young people who are fighting for freedom, we also have young people who are used in a bad way. This isn’t a fight between generations and parties, it’s a unification factor.

Bobi Wine: We must tap into the knowledge and experience of our elders and everyone to make sure we work together. When you see Wadri in Arua, you see the connection of the generations, (young and old).

Bobi Wine: I came into this Arua election after thinking so hard, however, looking at the bigger picture of ridding ourselves of the dictatorship government I came to back up Wadri.

Bobi Wine: About what is going on in FDC, it has gone on everywhere, people hold different views but what matters is how we gel these issues to move forward. What matters is how we work together to free ourselves.

Bobi Wine: Many times you find us competing but we’re not enemies. Dr. Kizza Besigye is like a father figure to me. However, being different human beings, sometimes you hold different views of issues due to our background and beliefs.

Bobi Wine: I’ll not discuss FDC because I’m not FDC, I’ll discuss issues concerning Uganda because i’m Ugandan. We’re all taking the same direction just that we veer off the track on who should come first.
