Uganda Peoples Defense Forces -UPDF and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (French: Forces Armées de la République Rémocratique du Congo -FARDC) have teamed up to demolish rebel bases in the DRC.

The armed forces are targeting the Allied Democratic Forces -ADF rebel positions in Watalinga Chiefdom of Beni Territory, North Kivu province.

By Tuesday morning, several detonations and heavy weapons could be heard in the Kichanga region near Madina.

UPDF spokesperson Brigadier General Flavia Byekwaso released a statement in a tweet yesterday that the force was launching air and artillery strikes against the ADF camps in DRC. 

“This morning, we have launched joint air and artillery strikes against ADF camps with our Congolese allies,” Brigadier General Flavia Byekwaso tweeted.  

Similarly in a tweet early on Tuesday, Congolese government spokesman, Patrick Katembwe Muyaya announced that targeted and concerted actions with the Ugandan army started with airstrikes and artillery fire from Uganda on the positions of ADF terrorists in the DRC.

Security forces in Uganda have pinned the ADF rebels to the recent bomb blasts that have claimed ten lives .

On November 16 ,Seven people died and over 35 were injured after two bombs went off at the Central Police Station (CPS) and the IPS building on Parliamentary Avenue.Police has since linked the attack to suicide bombers under the ADF .

Prior to that, the country suffered two other incidents in which two people died, one in Komamboga ,Kawempe Division claiming and another happened on a Swift company bus in Mpigi . others have died in four separate improvised explosive device blasts in the last one month.
