The highly-rated Spanish defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Arsenal reported to be among the interested clubs.

Villarreal defender Pau Torres has admitted that he is taking English lessons, amid speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

Reports claim the 23 year old centre-back is a summer target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, after his impressive lesson in La Liga.

The Gunners are thought to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements in the upcoming transfer wimdow and Torres fits the bill.

Acquiring the highly-rated defender will be no easy task, however, after he signed a new contract in October.

After impressing on loan at second-tier side Malaga last season, Torres has become a regular for Villarreal this season, but the Spanish international has admitted that he is broadening his horizons by learning English, something which could serve him well should a move to England materialise.

“In the morning i do the training regime and then i do the food following the guidelines established by the club.”

“In the afternoon, after lunch, i study a few languages because i was learning English and is a good time to resume it.”

Former Arsenal midfielder Sanyu Cazorla previously confirmed that the  Gunners’ interest in Torres.

Cazorla, who is a current team mate of the defender at Villarreal, revealed that he had received calls from his former club regarding the centre-back and winger Samuel Chukwueze.
