A few months after she announced her withdrawal from active politics, Kasese Woman MP, Winnie Kiiza has in a twist of events resigned from the Forum for Democratic change-FDC and joined her colleague Mughisha Muntu at the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).

In what was a jubilant moment filled with excitement and ululation, the political giant Kiiza was unveiled during a presser for the ANT party at their headquarters on Wednesday.

The ANT national organizing secretary Alice Alaso was quick to welcome Kiiza to what she described as her home.

An overjoyed Alaso described Kiiza a woman of integrity, who is passionate and assertive.

“We are happy to receive home an institution builder. Winnie Kiiza’s coming home means a lot for this party and this country,” Alaso said.

While giving her speech, Kiiza said she was partly inspired by her husband who is one of the founders of the ANT and the new converts including Jinja East Paul Mwiru and Kassiano Wadri.

Kiiza, however, wasn’t clear on whether she would seek re-election for the Kasese woman MP although she indicated that she was participating in a journey of building hope for Ugandans.

“A month ago I announced to the nation that I was not seeking reelection for the woman MP seat and people started wondering what next. I said I will continue to pursue justice, change, good values, good governance and all those will be pursued but with the ANT as my home,” she added.

Kiiza also revealed that she was compelled to crossover from a party she respects which is the FDC party to one she whose values she believes in.

“I have served well and I have fought the good fight. I have done all I could have within my power to progress the FDC party and our objectives,” Kizza said.

She further explained that she wanted to be part of those building blocks for the ANT political party and create hope for lost Ugandans.

Muntu praised Kiiza for making a choice of value by choosing to join and work with people who are focused on recovery of the country that starts with building an organization that is value-based.
