Nkumba University Journalism students owned Media Lab Entebbe has issued an intention to sue letter to NRM new boy Ronald Mayinja for using their footage without permission in a video he recently released for President Museveni dubbed, “Mzee”.
According to the letter issued by Media Lab’s lawyers (Walusimbi & Co Advocates), the video of the song features footage from the recently commissioned Kitooro Market. This footage belongs to Media Lab.
You infringed on our client’s copyright on 30th October 2020 or thereabouts when you used our client’s images, footage, and other artistic works depicting the recently commissioned Kotooro Market at Entebbe in the trending video of you campaign titled “Mzee” without our client’s consent.” The letter read.
On top of paying Media Lab UGX 375M as compensation, the lawyers have demanded an apology and pulling down the Video from Youtube.
“Our client hereby demands that you desist from further copyright infringement by immediately pulling down the video containing the infringements complained of.” Further, read.
The lawyers vowed to sue Ronald Mayinja in case he fails to adhere to their demands.
Should you fail to comply with this notice, our instructions are to sue you for everything you are worth. Stand warned.
