262 more suspects have been thrown into police custody for taking part in the aggressive riots to free NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

This brings the total of suspects in detention to 836 countrywide. Prior to this, the joint security team had arrested 577 suspects.

362 have already been presented in the courts of law and charged with inciting violence, malicious damage of property, and unlawful protest while 633 others will appear in courts of law by the close of this week.

Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, on Monday, while updating the media on the state of security at the UMC says they have been relying on CCTV footage and intelligence info to capture the suspects but that is not enough.

Enanga says police have also put up a Whatsapp number for the public to help to identify other suspects. He says more suspected ringleaders and other rioters are still being hunted for.

Meanwhile, 45 people have been pronounced dead following the 2 days of rioting and over 100 continue to fight for their lives in the hospital.

Enanga says 11 cops were injured by stones pelted at them by protesters. At least 100 civilians were also injured and some are still nursing their wounds.
