Bongo star Diamond Platnumz has announced a plan to pay full three months house rent for 500 families struggling to make ends meet amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Lawyer slams coronavirus excuse in Diamond rent case

The Jeje singer made the announcement on Instagram where he noted that families and individuals have been struggling to make ends end as more and more people are forced to close business, stay at home, avoid movement or social distance.

Diamond, a Tanzanian native, must of course have seen how the Covid-19 disease is quickly ravaging his Country as Tanzania sees the number of cases rise exponentially per day.

Tanzania currently has at least 300 confirmed Covid-19 cases and ten deaths.

“I pretty much know that at these terrible times where we are all fighting global pandemic COVID-19,countless life circumstances have changed especially in businesses, many businesses are drowning hence rendering to financial difficulties and life becoming a little bit tough to many of us. Although I am amongst those affected by this pandemic on Economy, with the little that God has blessed me with, I have decided to atleast offer a helping hand by paying 3 Months house rent to 500 families as my kind gesture of helping one another during these terrible times of fighting COVID-19 for I believe i should share your troubles and your happiness too. On Monday i shall announce procedure on how these 500 families shall receive house rent. “

Diamond is not the first artist to move in and cushion his fans against the vagaries of the pandemic.

Many African artists, including Yemi Alade, Runtown and Wizkid have sent out money, donated foodstuff and arranged for help for their fans through social media.

The controversial star says that he plans to announce the families selected for help -and the procedure to go about it- on Monday.
